Meet
the Swiss Mountain Log Homes Team
Master
log builder Philippe Rérat was born and raised in Switzerland, a country
known worldwide for its high-quality, precise workmanship. His formal training
in forestry and silviculture make him an expert at selecting logs, and each log
is subject to three rounds of his stringent grading before it goes into a Swiss
Mountain Log Home shell. His apprenticeship with a Swiss master timber-frame builder
and more than twenty years experience as a custom log home builder have elevated
Phil's craft to the highest levels. Kristine Rérat, Phil's wife and company
co-owner, applies her education and professional background as an entrepreneur
and teacher to providing friendly, personalized customer attention. The expert crew of logsmiths at Swiss Mountain Log Homes is comprised of talented craftsmen with many years of experience.
Together,
the Swiss Mountain Log Home team's number one priority is giving customers an
enjoyable, worry-free construction process and years of satisfied log home living.
About
Scandinavian Full Scribe Logwork
Hundreds of years ago, Scandinavian
craftsmen developed the art of full scribe log construction. Today, structures
centuries old still stand in testament to these builders' skills. In this labor-intensive,
highly skilled technique, each log is scribed and notched along its entire length,
creating a weather tight "chinkless" fit. Each large log is carefully
hand selected and hand peeled, scribed, notched and chiseled for an exact fit.
Our love and passion for Scandinavian full scribe logwork is reflected in the
precision and quality of every Swiss Mountain Log Home.
